Can you hear me now? Good!

Category Home Improvement
Believe it or not, the DSL connection started responding on Saturday AM. After a little testing of the line and the new firewall on Saturday night, I have decided to move the Domino server over to the new location. As of late last night everything should be in fine, faster, running condition. Yippee!!!! Now back to the laborious chore of moving everything else (like my life).

Can you hear me now??? NO!!!

Well, it looks like the three or four of you who have stopped by (or continue to) will have to wait a little longer for that bump in speed. My humble Covad man was quite surprised when he found that Verizon didn't do such a hot job of bringing my new 768K DSL line down from that rickety ol' phone pole that runs across my new back yard. I should have known that getting DSL in eight days or less is still a pipe dream. C'est la vie. Good thing I didn't decide to move the entire contents of the GCS Ashburn Data Center out to the new joint under the cover of night.

Yeah...I know it's slow

Category Home Improvement

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up. I know my server's response time is butt-slow. The problems are twol fold:

1.   I'm currently testing beta blogging software on beta server software. What does that mean?? It means there are tons of debugging code all over the place. At least the blogging software will be going into production very soon. If you're big Lotus Notes / Domino fans you owe it to yourself to check out the OpenNTF open-source development project and BlogSphere.

2.   I currently have the slowest DSL line money can buy. The humble abode in Ashburn is sooooo far away from Verizon's CO that the best I can manage is 128kb/sec in each direction. That's twice as fast as dialup, boys and girls and the main reason I'm not hosting any of my photos and video right now. That should change once I move out to Ballston / Arlington.

So there you have it--just two more excuses as to why this site sucks (but not as much as before).

The S2000 Fire Sale has begun

QuickImage Category Four-wheeled toys

It's been a long time coming. I've had a ton of S2000 parts laying around the house since last June when I planted my baby in Summit's T3 tire wall. If I'm ever gonna get moved out, a lot of it has to go. I just don't feel like hauling this stuff in the back of the CRX to the new joint. Besides, I have a race car to rebuild and the money can't hurt.

Here's a list of what's up for sale:
  • Koni Sport (Yellow) shocks / Ground Control adjustable coilover sleeves / Eibach springs (SOLD)
  • 18" gunmetal OZ Superleggera wheels w/ almost-new tires (SOLD)
  • 17" bronze Volk CE28n lightweight racing wheels (SOLD)
  • Mugen rear sway bar (SOLD)
  • Stock S2000 exhaust (SOLD)
  • Spoon X-Brace (SOLD)

For pricing and links to more info, head over to S2Ki's Mid-Atlantic forum. If something meets your fancy, email or IM me.

We're Movin' On Up...

Category Home Sweet Home
Whoohoo...after five years of so living here in God's country, Ashburn, VA, I have decided to move a little closer to civilization. Within the next month or so I will be moving into a beautiful, two bedroom house in the Ballston section of Arlington. That's just about 10min outside of DC and even closer to the Clarendon nightlife. Besides the loft office, it also has a full basement so I can store my growing collection of auto parts. Does it sound like I can't wait? I should have some photos posted by the end of the week so check back!
